Life story

Born on 1 February 1881, Alan Raikes Bee, was the son of James Bee, an accountant, and his wife Clara, nee Tapp, who lived at 6, Bushey Hill Road, Camberwell. He was baptised on 24 April 1881 at North Brixton Christ Church, Lambeth.

By 1891 the family had moved to 35, Mundonia Road but still in Camberwell. They had moved to Kent by 1901 and lived at Red House, Foot's Cray, Bromley.

In 1911 Alan was one of a great many men of various professions living at 75 79, Seymour Street, Paddington, and employed as a fire insurance clerk.

On 28 June 1913 he married Winifred Annie Fogwill at St. John , Clapham, Surrey.

At some point he joined the 24th battalion  London Regiment, also known as The Queen's, and rose to the rank of Major.

By 1924 he and Winifred were living at Ellington, 9, Cowper Road, West Worthing, where he died on 1 June 1927 aged 46.
