Life story

Annie Hills was born in Thakeham, Sussex, in 1851, she was the daughter of Thomas Hills, 42yrs, Agricultural Labourer, and Jane, 36yrs, a Dressmaker. She had 4 siblings, twins, Susan and James, b.1844, Caroline b.1849, and Harriet b.1856.

In 1881 Annie married Thomas Harry North, 40yrs, in Chichester. Thomas was a police constable; he was a widower with 4 children.  By 1891 they had 4 children, Mabel Annie, 7yrs, Edith Alice, 5yrs, Frederick Gordon, 2yrs, and Charles P. 4 months, and Thomas was retired. Annie was widowed in 1912 when Thomas died, aged 71yrs, in Kingston, Surrey.

Annie and her children remained in Chichester until after 1921, they then appear to have moved to Worthing, where Annie died on 14th January 1928, aged 76yrs.
