Life story

Annie Lottie Steevens was born in Somerset in 1866, she was baptised on May 17th, 1866, at St. James, Taunton.She was the daughter of George Sutton Steevens, 46yrs, Cabinet Maker, and Charlotte, 32yrs, nee Locke. She had 5 siblings, Sydney b.1858, Charles b.1860, George b.1861, Clara b.1863, and Edward, b. 1865.

In 1891 Annie gave her occupation as an artist, flower painter, in 1901, aged 34yrs, she was a secretary, and in 1911 she was an educational agent. Annie never married and lived her whole life with her family, moving from Taunton to London, living in Kensington, Camden Town and Ealing Common, with her widowed mother.

Annie suffered the loss of 3 brothers in just 4 years, Charles died in 1908, Edward died in 1910, and Sydney died in 1912. Her brother, Edward, died in Worthing, Sussex, and Annie appears to have had a connection to Worthing, she herself died there, aged 72yrs. on 9th March 1939, at the Groombridge Nursing Home, Chaucer Road.  At the time of her death, she had 2 homes, Leslie Lodge, Gratwicke Road, Worthing, and 62, Brook Street, London W1. Probate was granted to her sister, Clara Rosina Williams, £2857 12s 9d. Value 2022 - £199K.
