Life story

Life story

Annie was born in Brompton, Middlesex, the second daughter of Charles Lennox Moore Teesdale and his wife Emily. She was baptised at Holy Trinity Church, Brompton on 24th January 1848 by her grandfather Rev. John Rush.

Annie never married and spent much of her life with her parents and sisters. Of her three sisters, only one, Mary Jane married.

Her father worked for the Post Office and by 1861was Postmaster of Exeter. When he retired , the family moved firstly to Rumboldswyke near Chichester and then to Worthing in 1886.

They lived in Shelley Road for a while, before moving to a new house on the corner of Wordsworth Road and Rowlands Road.

Emily Teesdale died in 1890 and was buried at Heene.

Charles died in 1901 and was buried beside her.

The three sisters Annie, Emily and Charlotte moved out of their home, Emily moving to London and Annie and Charlotte to Shakespeare Road in Worthing. They lodged with Mrs Henrietta Thompson, a widow and her sister Jane Butcher (who is also buried at Heene).

Annie died on 18th September 1913. Probate was granted on 24th October to Rev. Edward James Teesdale clerk. Effects £5719 15s 4d.
