The Ruxton family

The Ruxton family trace their roots in Ireland back to John Ruxton, born 1531, Co. Meath. Their connection with Ardee, Co. Louth, began with William Ruxton, of Ardee House, born 1734. They were a prominent family of landowners who produced many distinguished military figures, churchmen and politicians. Admiral William Fitzherbert Ruxton, FRGS, born 1830, was the author of an impressive family research document on the Ruxton history (done before many Irish records were destroyed).
