Life story

Life story

Emily Blanche Cosser, known as Blanche, was born in Pancras, in June quarter, 1860. She was the daughter of Robert Mason Cosser, 25yrs, a dealer in fancy goods and toys, and Margaret, 27yrs, nee Ravenhill. She had 2 siblings, Robert, born 1868, and Alice Ellen, born 1863.

Blanche was a stationer's shop assistant at 21yrs, and in 1886, aged 25yrs, she married Herbert Hart, 26yrs, also a dealer in fancy goods, on 16th June, at St. Mary, Kilburn, Camden. They had a son, Harold Ravenhill Hart, he was baptised on 3rd February 1889, at St. Paul's, Haringey, a daughter, Florence Lillian, baptised in October 1891, died in infancy.

Herbert moved his family many times in the Middlesex area, from Haringey to Stoke Newington, then to Hornsey, and at some point, after 1921 to Worthing, Sussex, where they lived at a property called Pulborough, in Wykeham Road.

Blanche died on 5th May 1931, aged 71yrs.
