Life story

Daniel and Martha Dyer were the parents of Charles Kemp Dyer who was born in 1813 at Alpheton in Suffolk and baptised on 6 June.

He became a merchant of Lloyds. He was a director of numerous companies such as the House Property and Investment Company Ltd, the Welsh Ironworks Co Ltd, the Hallidie Patent Cable Tramways Corporation Ltd and the British and Irish Magnetic Telegraph Co.

He married Anne Elizabeth Watson on 5 September 1845. She died in 1854 and on 28 April 1863 Charles married Mary Rake. They had 2 children Charles Kemp Dyer jnr and Anne Mary Dyer.

By 1891 they were living at 70, Marine Parade, Broadwater. At that time Charles snr was a JP and had private means. When he died in 1894 he left £256 17s 1d to his son and daughter. At the time of his death he was living at 1. Queens Road, Worthing.
