Life story

Life story

Constance was born in Newport Monmouthshire, the daughter of Benjamin and Augusta. By 1861 the family were living in a large late 16th century house, Bicknor Court in the village of English Bicknor not far from the Welsh border. Augusta came from landed gentry in Kilkenny, Ireland. By 1881, the family had moved to Huddersfield where Benjamin worked as an insurance agent for Royal Liver Insurance Society. Augusta died on 27th January 1884 and Benjamin moved back to Somerset where he had been born. He died on 15th March 1903. Constance spent much time visiting friends and family. She eventually settled in Worthing, living with her sister Florence at "Thorpe Cottage" in Rowlands Road. In 1914, she had moved next door, to "Hampden ". Constance died c21 Mar 1921. No probate.
