Life story

David Frame M.A. M.D.  1860 -1947 Scottish Doctor David Frame graduated at Glasgow University in 1887 with a Master of Arts degree and then studied medicine qualifying as a Doctor of Medicine in 1893. He was the District Medical Officer for both the Metropolitan Water Board and the Post Office and the Public vaccinator. 

Biography

Born on 30th March 1860 in Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire to scboolmaster, James Frame and his wife Mary Gilchrist Harvey.

By 1881 he was lodging in Glasgow while studying at the University for an Arts Degree.  He gained an MA in 1887 and then started a medical degree. After qualifying as a Doctor of Medicine in 1893 he moved to North West London and took up roles as a public vaccinator and District Medical Officer in the Willesden area. He served the Metropolitan Water Board and the Post Office as Medical Officer. He also became the Police Surgeon for the area and gave evidence in court on domestic violence, neglect and even murder.

The Willesden Chronicle of 1st November 1901 reported the marriage of Dr Frame - at 9 o'clock on Tuesday morning, the marriage took place at the Willesden Presbyterian Church of Dr David Frame of Greenhill Park, Harlesden (one of the two public vaccinators of the parish), and Miss Alice Marshall of 4 Tubbs Road. Rev D. Fyffe M.A. officiated and the bride was given away by a relative, Dr Rawes (nephew). The ceremony was a very quiet one, and Dr and Mrs Frame have gone to Bournemouth for their honeymoon. Dr David Frame and Dr Charles Kinsman Rawes were work colleagues in the Willesden area. They both helped at the scene of the 1910 Willesden Junction Railway Disaster.

Alice and David lived at Villette, 23 Nicoll Road, Harlesden, while David continued his work in the local community. In 1925 they retired to Ellastone, Ariadne Road Worthing. David took great interest in the new Presbyterian Church in Heene Road, Worthing and served as the church's treasurer.

Alice died in 1935 and was buried in Heene Cemetery. David died in 1947 while still living at Ellastone, Ariadne Road.
