Life story

Life story

Born in Manchester on 6 July 1842, Edward was baptised at St John's on 18 September. His father, William, was Rector of St John's and with his wife, Eleanor Ann, family and servants at Pooles Park, Crambrook Bank, Manchester. By 1871 Edward, an attorney, was in the large household of his brother-in-law, Frederick H Leaf, a wholesale warehouseman, and his wife, Mary. The following year, Edward, now a solicitor, married Amy Emma Leaf on 15 August at St James' Church, Clapham and the ceremony was conducted by Edward's father. Edward and Amy were married for 38 years but had no children. They lived mostly in London but when Edward died on 24 May 1927 their address was 44, Rowlands Road, Worthing.
