Obituary

Surrey Advertiser – March 22nd 1916. The news of the death of Mrs. J. Simpson, of Burlington, Shakespeare Road, Worthing, on Friday, at the age of 66, will be received with much regret by that lady’s numerous friends in Guildford. The deceased was the widow of Mr. John Simpson, who was for many years head of the well- known draper’s business in High Street, now carried on by his sons, Mr. William Simpson and Mr. Ernest Simpson. On his retirement from business, Mr. and Mrs. Simpson, with their youngest son, Mr. Bert Simpson, took up their residence at Worthing, where Mrs. Simpson suffered a double bereavement by the death of Mr. Simpson and her son. Mrs. Simpson, though she had been ailing for some considerable time, was ill for only a fortnight, and she passed peacefully away in her sleep. She leaves one daughter, (Mrs. Ganner) and two sons, Messrs. E. and W. Simpson, to whom the deepest sympathy will be extended in their great loss. The funeral will take place at Heene Churchyard, Worthing, today (Wednesday).
