Life story

When Ethel Jane Williams was born in April 1912 in Heene, Sussex, her father, Lancelot John, a carpenter and joiner was 35, and her mother, Ethel Ashling, a music teacher, was 33. She had two sisters. She died aged 1 in April 1913 in Worthing and was buried in Heene Cemetery. Ethel's maternal grandparents, John and Betsy Ashling, and her uncle Arthur Ashling, are also buried in Heene.
