Life story

Life story

Florence was born to William and Elizabeth Wenban Smith in 1873 Worthing. In 1881 she is boarding at Byrne Villa a Ladies School in Storrington.

An article printed in the March 2018 'Herald' magazine, (a monthly magazine for the Storrington and Sullington area) shows that the school was run by Miss Gleadah and her assistant, Miss Mauchlin. Miss Gleadach was described as a 'little old lady' with ringlets on each side of her face and a bonnet like someone out of a Jane Austin novela. School Hill had several houses which were once private schools.

Florence died on 8th November 1887 at 96 Chapel Road of Phthisis (Pulmonary Tuberculosis). Her Father William was in attendance
