Life story

Life story

Florentia was born in Edmonton, the daughter of Christopher and Amelia. She was baptised at All Saints Church, Edmonton on 23 August 1838. Her father was chaplain to Edmonton Union Workhouse. On 24 May 1866, Florentia married Dr William John Harris at All Saints Church Edmonton. The couple lived in Worthing where William had a medical practice. Their son, Herbert George was born in 1875 and baptised at Broadwater Church on 23 September. Florentia was widowed on 28 August 1893, when William died during Worthing's typhoid epidemic. She continued to live in the Heene area until 1911. Her son Herbert had married in 1903 and lived in Southampton where he was a doctor. Florentia died on 9 August 1918 at Grosvenor House Nursing Home in Southampton. Probate was granted on 1st October 1918 to Herbert George Harris MD. Effects £7332 0s 1d.
