Life story

Frederick John Nisbet was born in 1864, in Islington, London, to a wealthy family, father, John Nisbet, being a Corn Trader, living at 29, Canonbury Park North. Frederick was born on October 1st1864 and baptised on 23rd November, at St. Mary, Islington. In 1871 the family lived in Bromley, Kent, at 53 Widmore Road, Frederick 6yrs was one of 6 children, Margaret 19, Alice 18, Lucy 16, Edward 8 and Ralph 4. In 1881 Frederick John Nisbet 16yrs. was at boarding school in Sherborne, Dorset. He chose medicine as his career and after qualifying as a Surgeon he worked at Guy's Hospital, London. He lived with his brother, Edward Gibson Nisbet at 64 Gloucester St. Westminster in 1894. Frederick John, in 1901, aged 36yrs, Surgeon, lived with his parents, John, 74yrs, now retired, and Lucy, 72yrs, at 11, Heene Terrace, Worthing. His widowed sister, Lucy Calcot, 46yrs, plus three cousins lived with the family, they employed a Cook, Table maid, Housemaid and Lady's maid. Frederick John Nisbet died on 9th January 1904, aged 39yrs, at 11, Heene Terrace, Worthing. Probate was granted to Edward Gibson and Edmund Moore, Solicitor. Effects £535 18s 11d Value 2020 - £65K. His death certificate gave the cause of death as Cirrhosis of Liver 3 years, Ascites, Paracentesis Abdominis 5 days, Asthenia.
