Geraldine de Courcy MacCarty was the daughter of Robert MacCarty, 31yrs, Landed Proprietor, born in County Cork, Ireland, and Mary, 29yrs, nee Hyde. She was born in 1844 in Germany, but she was an Irish national. Geraldine had 3 sisters, Elizabeth b.1838, Cork, Florence b.1841, Belgium, and Maria b.1845, Germany.
Geraldine appears to have spent most of her childhood abroad, and in 1861, aged 18yrs, she was with her family in Salcombe, Devon, the birth county of her mother, Mary Hyde. Her father died in 1867 and her mother in 1868, both in Plympton, Devon.
Geraldine and her sister, Florence, were living together in Fulham, in 1891, and in 1911 they were in Bexhill, Sussex, they were both unmarried. At some point they moved to Worthing, Sussex, where they lived at Woodville, Downview Road. In 1917 Florence died, aged 77yrs.
Geraldine moved to 44, Rowlands Road, where she died, aged 82yrs, on 7th November 1926.
