Life story

Harriet Elizabeth Alice Palmer was born in St. Johns Wood, London, she was baptised on 26th April 1857; she was the daughter of Joseph Nottingham Palmer, 42yrs, Australian Merchant, and Sarah Ann, 26yrs, nee Howorth. Harriet (known as Alice) had 3 siblings, Ernest, b.1855, William, b.1859, and Arthur, b.1860.

On 2nd October1879, Harriet, 23yrs, married Herbert Ernest Green, 25yrs, at St. Mark, St. Johns Wood, he was a gentleman of independent means. They lived in Buckinghamshire and their son, Herbert Bernard, was born in 1881, later, 2 daughters were born, Violet, in 1890, and Vera, in 1894.

In 1891 the family were in Brighton, Sussex, in 1901 they were in Sydenham, Kent, finally settling in Worthing, Sussex, where they lived at Ellesmere, Gratwicke Road.

Harriet died on 13th November 1908, aged 51yrs. Probate was granted to her husband, effects, £459 9s 9d. Value 2022 - £59K.
