Life story

Jessie Mary Forsey, nee Rice, was born on 17 June 1854 in Mitcham, Surrey. She was the daughter of Robert Rice, who lived on the dividends of his investments, and  Mary Ann Rice. She married John Forsey, a ship broker and Singapore merchant, on 18 June 1881 in the Parish Church at Croydon, Surrey. According to the 1891 Census, they we living in a lodging house in Thanet, Kent, but by 1901 they had their own home at 20. Gratwicke Road, Worthing, but John died in that  year and by  1911 Jessie  had moved to a house called 'Pulborough', in Wykeham Road, Worthing and the Census record shows that she had'nt had  children. Jessie remained at Wykeham Road at least until 1915 but by 1924 had moved away. Her address when she died on 29 September 1935 was 76, Marina , St Leonards-on-Sea. She left £11,536 3s 7d to be administered by a solicitor and Emily Dora Rice, one of her sisters.
