Life story

Life story

Maria was born in Boughton, Northants, the daughter of Lovell and Martha. She was baptised at Boughton on 1st February 1814. Her father was a farmer. On 25th October 1836, Maria married Francis Benjamin Woods at Wilby, Northants. Francis was an apothecary. They made their home in Northampton where Francis set up his business as a surgeon and general practitioner. The couple had eleven children: Francis Hollis b1837; Ann b1839; Ada Maria b1841; Edward William b1842; Margaret Eliza b1845; George Edward b1849; Catherine b1850; John b1852 d1855; Benjamin b1854; Charles Henry b1855 and Herbert b1859. After Francis retired, the family moved to Worthing, living at Heene Villa in Heene Lane (Road). Maria died on 19th November 1886. No probate.
