Life story

Samuel Robinson Gale was born in Islington, March qtr. 1844, he was the eldest son of Daniel Norton Gale, 30yrs, Solicitor's Clerk, and Sarah, 29yrs, nee Robinson. He had 3 siblings, William R. b.1847, Alfred N. b.1848, and Jane b.1853.

Samuel was a commercial clerk in 1867 when he married Eliza Moir on 22nd August, at St. Stephen's, Canonbury Road, Islington, they were both 23yrs. They had no children and remained in the Islington area for about 20yrs, moving to Hornsey, Middlesex, and then to Croydon before retiring to Worthing where they lived at 20, St. Matthew's Road, in 1911.

Samuel died, aged 78yrs, on 8th June 1922, in Worthing, probate was granted to his widow, Eliza Gale, effects £1,115 10s 9d. value 2021 - £65K.
