Life story

Life story

Sundius was born in Turners Hill, Sussex, the son of William and Eliza. He was baptised at All Saints Church, Crawley Down on 6 Dec 1885. As an adult, Sundius helped run his father's shop at 10 Thorn Road, Worthing. On 15th August 1915, he married Florence Harriet Eldridge at St Paul's church, Worthing. The couple had a son Ronald Arthur the following year. When his father died, Sundius took over the running of the shop. He died at 10 Thorn Road on 13th March 1930. His death certificate stated that Sundius died of ulcerative endocarditis. No probate.

"Whist Drive MC's Death"

The funeral took place at Heene on Monday of Mr Sundius Arthur Stacey of 10 Thorn Road whose death at the age of 44 occurred on Thursday. Mr Stacey who was a greengrocer by trade, was a popular figure at whist drives held for charity at Barnes' café, having been MC for some time, and among wreaths sent was one from friends whom he had made at the drives. The Buckingham Road club of which he was a member, also sent flowers.
