Emily Lincoln was born in Fulham, Middlesex, on 14th July 1837; she was baptised at Walham Green on 13th August 1837. Emily was the daughter of John Lincoln, 27yrs, Surgeon, and Emily, 27yrs, nee Ellaby, she had 2 older brothers, William b.1831, and Henry b.1835.
Emily's father died when she was about 8yrs old and her mother moved the family to Newington, Surrey. Emily trained as a schoolteacher with the National Schools system, and in 1861, aged 23yrs, she was employed as an infant teacher in Mitcham, Surrey. In 1881, Emily had moved to the elementary school in Marylebone where she taught for the next 20yrs, eventually becoming the Head Teacher.
By 1911, aged 73yrs, Emily had retired with a pension, and was living in West Hampstead; at some point she moved to Worthing, Sussex, where she lived at Seacrest, 116, Marine Parade. Emily died at the Groombridge Nursing Home, Chaucer Road, on 29th June 1918, aged 80yrs. Probate was granted to Daisy Beatrice Button, widow, effects £2169 18s 7d. Value 2022 - £131,325.
