Life story

Life story

Sarah was born in the village of Kingston near Ferring, Sussex, the daughter of James and Sarah. She was baptised at Ferring on 13th November 1796. Her father worked on a local farm. Sarah married William Haylor at Rustington on 1st January 1817. Their son George was born in Goring in April 1817. The couple moved to Heene before 1841, living with William's father. William worked on the land all his life until his death in 1864. He was buried at West Tarring on 23rd January. (Heene Cemetery was not opened until 1873 and Heene was part of West Tarring parish). By 1871, Sarah was living with her son George and his family in Heene Lane. She died in late March 1876. No probate.
