Life story

Edward John Poland was born in July 1874 in Worthing, Sussex. His father, Edward John, was a tailor and beer housekeeper and his mother was Martha Mitchell from Sherrington Buckinghamshire.

He was Martha's second of four children who all died in infancy. Tom died aged 18 months and was buried in Heene Cemetery.

His siblings and parents are also buried in Heene.
