Life story
Bernard Allan James Boyse was born in Worthing, Sussex on the 8th April 1918 to church organist Arthur Boyce F.R.C.O. and his wife Dorothy Vera Mellersh.
He had a sister, Ida who married Herbert Hales in 1942 , and two brothers, Edward (Teddy) who served as a pilot and later as a distinguished doctor and researcher in Canada and Benjamin who married Beryl Brace in 1952.
Bernard worked as a research tester of aero engines at Ricardo Thornycroft in Shoreham before enlisting in the 86th Squadron of the RAF.
Tragically on 21st July, 1941,Bernard was a crew member on a flight that departed RAF North Coates on a mine laying operation. It crashed in uknown circumstances in the North Sea of Schiermonnikoog Island, Friesland, Netherlands. Bernard is He is commemorated at the Runnymede Memorial in Surrey, United Kingdom.
