The Rev. Guy Anthony Potter wanted to be a priest from the age of five: coxed for St. John's College, Cambridge, and the University, was on the Livery of the Merchant Taylors Company, a member of the Wine Society and Good Food Club, he was fond of foreign travel photography, television and reading and appeared on various TV programmes. Mrs. Yvonne Potter, nee Demuth, was born in Birmingham, but was brought up in Bournemouth. She attended the Sherbourne School and was an artist, painting both pictures and china. Mr. and Mrs. Potter's two sons trained as priests and their daughter trained as a nurse before marrying a doctor.
